"Accountability"

A big word with a simple meaning.

For that which we have taken responsibility we shall be held accountable.  As the assumed "superior" species we are totally accountable for those animals we accept the responsibility for.

If we are not willing to shoulder accountability then we should not assume the responsibility.       Ray Hill

Yellow, Black or Chocolate?

Acceptable colors for either the English or the American Labrador are yellow, black or chocolate.  The yellow Lab, also erroneously called a Golden Lab, can be anything from a light cream, almost white, to gold or fox-red.  Black Labs are generally a solid black color and chocolate Labs are medium to dark brown.

Puppies of all colors can potentially occur in the same litter as color is determined by their genes.

Yellow Labs should have a black nose; yellow Labs with a pink or brown nose are flawed.  All yellow Labs’ noses will turn to partially pink during the winter months – this is just due to the change in seasons.  Every spring/summer, their noses should turn back to black.  Sometimes a black nose will lighten up as the dog gets older and end up as a pink shade.  Chocolate Labs should not be bred with a yellow Lab as this will sometimes cause a pink or liver-colored nose and this is unacceptable.  Black and chocolate Labs will have a nose the same color as their coats.
